Efficient Hybrid Solar Cells Based on Meso-Superstructured Organometal Halide Perovskites

Science, 2012 · paper · Materials

A Japanese-language highlight of a Science report on solid thin-film solar cells using organometal halide perovskite crystals coated on porous alumina with an organic hole-transport layer. It states that efficiencies close to 11% were obtained from a simple solution-coating method.

2 minor (typos and the like; most checked by the judge only)
Typo The affiliation of 村上 拓郎 (Takurou Murakami) is printed as "産業総合技術研究所太陽光発電工学研究センター 研究員"; the institute's name is 産業技術総合研究所 (AIST), so 総合 and 技術 appear transposed.
  • p. 1 Author block, affiliation line under 村上 拓郎
    産業総合技術研究所太陽光発電工学研究センター
  • p. 1
    産業総合技術研究所太陽光発電工学研究センター 研究員

Only the authors can say what is right here.

Judge's note: Rests on outside knowledge: the official Japanese name of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is 産業技術総合研究所. Checked the crop and the full page image: the affiliation line reads 産業総合技術研究所太陽光発電工学研究センター 研究員 exactly as quoted, so it is not an extraction artefact. The institute name appears nowhere else on the page, so there is no internal comparison; the defect rests on the outside name alone. A misspelt institution name in an author block, cosmetic.

Typo The photo caption reads "写真(左:宮坂 力、右:Dr.Henry J. Snaith)", with no space between "Dr." and "Henry".
  • p. 1 Photo caption under the portraits
    Dr.Henry J. Snaith

Judge's note: Checked the crop and the full page image: the caption prints "Dr.Henry J. Snaith" with no space after the full stop, while the rest of the name is spaced normally. Omitting the space after an abbreviated title is common in Japanese typesetting of Latin text, so either form could be intended; purely cosmetic.
