Substance "Starting from oxalate-protected allylic alcohols, Overman demonstrated ... via monodecarboxylation to the formyl radical, 5-exo cyclization"; Scheme 19 shows a homoallylic (but-3-enyl) oxalate giving an alkoxycarbonyl radical, and ref 195 says 'Alkoxycarbonyl Radical'.

Only the authors can say what is right here.
Judge's note: Page 97 Scheme 19 (right box) shows O-CH2CH2CH=CH2 bearing an acyl radical •C(=O)O–, which undergoes 5-exo-trig cyclization to a γ-lactone. Counting atoms: C(=O), O, CH2, CH2, CH gives a 5-membered ring. An allylic O–CH2–CH=CH2 would give a 4-membered ring. Ref 195 (p 64) is titled '...by an Alkoxycarbonyl Radical Cyclization−Cross-Coupling Cascade'. A formyl radical is HC•=O. The text therefore misnames both the substrate and the radical relative to its own scheme and reference.

Substance Text gives "(106−108, 61%−71% yield)", but Scheme 20 prints 106, 70%; 107, 67%; 108, 71% (range 67%–71%).

Substance The text gives the Ru precatalyst as "by [RuCl(p-cymene)]2 to afford cyclometalated Ru complex 402", whereas Scheme 63 shows "[RuCl2(p-cymene)]2".

Judge's note: The p 49 image shows [RuCl(p-cymene)]2 with no subscript 2 on Cl, so this is not an extraction loss. Scheme 63 (p 141) shows [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2. The text formula drops a chloride and names a different species.

Reference or label Compound number 143 is used for two different structures: the iminium intermediate in Scheme 23 and the iodoperfluoroalkylation product "143 84% yield" in Scheme 25 (text: "Scheme 25, 143−148").

Judge's note: Checked on the full images of p101 and p103 and the crop of p25. In Scheme 23 the iminium cation is labelled 143. In Scheme 25, 143 is the styrene-derived iodide (84%), and the text cites 143–148 for Scheme 25. The structures differ, so one of the two labels needs renumbering; only the authors can say which.

Reference or label The text assigns Fouquet/Hermange's Au(III)–aryl-then-transmetalation (oxidation-first) mechanism to "(Scheme 51a)" and Lee's "transmetalation-first" mechanism to "(Scheme 51b)", but Scheme 51 panel (a) is titled "Transmetalation first" and panel (b) "Oxidation first".

Only the authors can say what is right here.
Judge's note: The p 41 image: Fouquet and Hermange are described as forming an electrophilic Au(III)–aryl species that then transmetalates, citing Scheme 51a. Lines 2077–2079 of the text: Lee proposed a 'transmetalation-first' mechanism, and the p 42 image shows this cited as Scheme 51b. On the p 129 image, panel (a) is headed 'Transmetalation first' and shows L_nAu(I)–X transmetalating with Ar1B(OH)2 before oxidation; panel (b) is headed 'Oxidation first'. Panel (a) also contains Fouquet's diazonium 317. So either the text pointers or the panel titles are swapped, and only the authors can say which.

Reference or label Scheme 62a labels the rhodium catalyst "Δ-RuO (391)" three times (above the reaction arrow, in the structure box and in the Lewis acid cycle), but the drawn structure has an Rh(III) centre and the text calls 391 a "chiral, cyclometalated rhodium complex"; the label should read Δ-RhO.

Ar—RF•
Judge's note: Checked on the full image of p98. The radical dot after RF appears on the Cu(III)–RF adduct and on the Ar–RF product. The product is the closed-shell perfluoroalkylarene (106–108) shown in the scheme header. This is a labelling error in the figure.

36 minor (typos and the like; most checked by the judge only)
Reference or label In Scheme 34, intermediate 202 is drawn as "XLnCu^I" (Cu(I)), but the text on p. 31 says radical capture by Cu(II) complex 201 "affords Cu(III) intermediate 202".

- p. 31 Section 3.5 text

Only the authors can say what is right here.
Judge's note: On the page 112 image, the superscript on 202 looks like a single 'I', the same as on Cu(I) species 204. At the same resolution, the 'II' on 201 is clearly two strokes. The text on p. 31 (crop) calls 202 a Cu(III) species, and a Cu(II) complex capturing a radical would give Cu(III). Because the superscript is small in the rendered image, I am raising this as a label query for the authors, not a definite error.

Wording "Copper-catalyzed C−N couplings reported by Chan, Evans, and Lam ... to provide valuable C−N linkages" cites refs 16–18, but ref 18 (Evans) is titled "Synthesis of Diaryl Ethers through the Copper-Promoted Arylation of Phenols with Arylboronic Acids" (a C−O coupling).

Copper-catalyzed C−N couplings reported by Chan, Evans, and Lam

Synthesis of Diaryl Ethers through the Copper-Promoted Arylation of Phenols with Arylboronic Acids
Judge's note: Page 3 sentence and the page 55 reference list checked. Ref 16 covers N- and O-arylations, ref 17 covers C−N, and ref 18 covers C−O diaryl ether formation, described as 'copper-promoted'. 'Chan–Evans–Lam' is a common name for the whole reaction class, so this is a wording point: the sentence attributes C−N linkages to all three reports.

- p. 30 Section 3.5
to the decarboxylative C−N coupling with imines,266
Only the authors can say what is right here.
Judge's note: Lines 1496–1518 of the text and the p 30 image show this. Ref 266 (Angew 2018, benzophenone imines) is first presented as the work that expanded the method to imines. The anilines paper (ref 267) is then described as a later extension. Finally ref 266 is cited again as 'subsequent work' extending the 'original protocol' to imines. The paper presents the same reference as both the base work and the later extension, so the chronology is self-contradictory. Ref 268 (Org Lett 2020) covers anilines and imines with an organic photocatalyst. Only the authors can say which citation or order was intended.

Judge's note: Rests on outside knowledge: the published Sonogashira 1975 title ('Substitutions ... Bromoalkenes') and the editor's surname 'Anilkumar'. The page images of p65 and p64 show the text exactly as quoted. 'Subtitutions' is a plain misspelling whatever the source says.

Typo Ref 348 title reads "Alkynylative Cyclization of o-Alkylnylphenols with Iodoalkynes"; it should read 'o-Alkynylphenols'.
- p. 72
Enables Alkynylative Cyclization of o-Alkylnylphenols with Iodoalkynes
Judge's note: Checked on the crop of p72. 'Alkylnyl' is printed and is not a valid chemical term; the substrates are alkynylphenols.

Typo In Scheme 8, the protecting group on compound (±)-34 is labelled "Bac"; it should be 'Boc'.
- p. 86 Scheme 8, compound (±)-34
Bac
Judge's note: Checked on the full image of p86. The N-protecting group on 34 reads 'Bac', while 32, 33 and the cycle intermediates read 'Boc'.

Typo Scheme 18 conditions read "2 mol% Ir[dF(CF3)2ppy]2(bpy)PF6"; the extra subscript 2 after CF3 is inconsistent with 'Ir[dF(CF3)ppy]2' used elsewhere.
- p. 96 Scheme 18, conditions
Ir[dF(CF3)2ppy]2(bpy)PF6
Judge's note: Checked on the full image of p96. The extra '2' is printed after (CF3). Scheme 8, for example, uses Ir[dF(CF3)ppy]2(dtbbpy)PF6. The same scheme also splits 'BPin' into 'BPi n' on one intermediate.

Typo The Scheme 27b heading reads "Scope of intermolecular quinonline formation"; it should read 'quinoline'.
- p. 105 Scheme 27b heading
Scope of intermolecular quinonline formation
Judge's note: Checked on the full image of p105. The heading of panel (b) prints 'quinonline'.

Typo Scheme 31 banner reads "Dual [Cu] catalysis; outer-shere bond formation"; it should read "outer-sphere".
- p. 109 Scheme 31 bullet text
outer-shere bond formation
Judge's note: I read the banner on the page 109 image. It clearly says "outer-shere". The word is part of the scheme graphic, not the text layer, so this is not an extraction artefact.

Typo Scheme 47a title reads "Glorius – Alknylation of arenes with terminal acetylenes"; it should read "Alkynylation".
- p. 125 Scheme 47a heading
Alknylation of arenes with terminal acetylenes
Judge's note: The page 125 image shows "Alknylation" in the panel (a) heading. The scheme caption spells it correctly ("Alkynylations").

Typo In Scheme 51c, the blue cycle label reads "Ligand Exchange Cyle"; it should read "Cycle".
- p. 129 Scheme 51c label
Exchange Cyle
- p. 129 Scheme 51 panel (c), blue cycle label
Ligand Exchange Cyle
Judge's note: The page 129 image shows "Ligand Exchange Cyle" in panel (c). Both reviewer quotes refer to this same label.
