Efficacy and Safety of Risankizumab for Moderate-to-Severe Plaque Psoriasis: UltIMMa-1 and UltIMMa-2

2018 · paper · Clinical trials

A drug review of risankizumab, an interleukin-23 antibody, for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. In phase III trials, about 72–75% reached a 90% improvement in PASI at week 16, more than with ustekinumab, adalimumab or placebo.

2 minor (typos and the like; most checked by the judge only)
Wording Page 2 says "66% achieved the PASI 90 at 44 weeks after being switched to risankizumab", but page 1 says the re-randomisation happened "at 16 weeks"; it is unclear whether 44 is the trial week or the time since switching.
  • p. 2 Left column, first paragraph
66% achieved the PASI 90 at 44 weeks after being switched to risankizumab
  • p. 1 Right column, IMMvent paragraph
at 16 weeks, they were re-randomised to continue or switch to risankizumab

Only the authors can say what is right here.

Judge's note: Rests on outside knowledge: that the IMMvent re-randomised comparison was assessed at study week 44 (ref 3), i.e. 28 weeks after the switch. Within the files, page 1 gives re-randomisation at week 16, and page 2 reads 'at 44 weeks after being switched'. Whether 44 is the trial week or the time since switching cannot be settled from the article, which never states the trial length. The authors should say which they mean (e.g. 'at week 44').

Second check: another model agreed

Typo Body text spells PASI as "Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI)" (p.1, left column), but the Table footnote gives "Psoriasis Area and Severity Index"; the word 'and' is missing from the body text.
  • p. 1 Body text, left column, phase II paragraph
90% on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI)
  • p. 1 Table footnote *
PASI Psoriasis Area and Severity Index
  • p. 1 text, phase II paragraph
    Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI)

Judge's note: Checked the page 1 image: the left column reads 'Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI)' with no 'and', and the Table footnote * reads 'PASI Psoriasis Area and Severity Index'. The same index is spelled out two ways, and the footnote form is the standard name. Cosmetic.
