Nivolumab versus Docetaxel in Advanced Nonsquamous Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer
2015 · paper · Clinical trials
A phase 3 trial comparing nivolumab with docetaxel in patients with advanced nonsquamous non-small-cell lung cancer that progressed after platinum chemotherapy. Overall survival was longer with nivolumab (12.2 versus 9.4 months), with fewer serious treatment-related adverse events.

2 minor (typos and the like; most checked by the judge only)
Typo The PFS hazard-ratio CI upper bound is printed as "0.92 (95% CI, 0.77 to 1.1; P=0.39)" in the Results text (p.6) but as "0.92 (95% CI, 0.77–1.11); P=0.39" in the Figure 1C legend (p.7).
- p. 6 Results, Progression-free Survival paragraph
0.92 (95% CI, 0.77 to 1.1; P=0.39)
- p. 7 Figure 1C legend
0.92 (95% CI, 0.77–1.11); P=0.39
Judge's note: Both crops confirm the two printings. They describe the same stratified Cox analysis of progression-free survival in the same population. 1.11 rounds to 1.1, so the values do not conflict. Still, every other bound in the paper uses two decimals, so the text should read 1.11 for consistency. This is cosmetic.

Typo Discussion (p.10) calls ramucirumab "a vascular endothelial growth factor 2 inhibitor". The word 'receptor' (VEGFR-2) appears to be missing.
- p. 10 Discussion, second paragraph (right column, bottom)
a vascular endothelial growth factor 2 inhibitor
Only the authors can say what is right here.
Judge's note: Rests on outside knowledge: that ramucirumab is an antibody against VEGF receptor 2, not against a ligand called 'VEGF 2'. Crop C005-a confirms the printed wording. The REVEL figures in the same sentence (11.1 vs 9.7 months, HR 0.83) are not affected.
