Wording Table 1 footnote †† says "Baseline scores were available for 76 patients in the endovascular-therapy group and 66 patients in the medical-therapy group. Baseline scores are not reported for patients in whom the qualifying imaging study was an MRI", yet only "69 (75)" and "64 (71)" patients qualified by CT perfusion imaging.
  • p. 17 Table 1 footnote ††
Baseline scores were available for 76 patients in the endovascular-therapy group and 66 patients in the medical-therapy group. Baseline scores are not reported for patients in whom the qualifying imaging study was an MRI.
  • p. 16 Table 1, Qualifying imaging, CT perfusion imaging
    69 (75)
  • p. 16 Table 1, Qualifying imaging, CT perfusion imaging (medical therapy)
    64 (71)
  • p. 17 Table 1 footnote ††
Baseline scores were available for 76 patients in the endovascular-therapy group and 66 patients in the medical-therapy group.

Only the authors can say what is right here.

Judge's note: The upright page 17 image prints the footnote as quoted, and the page 16 image shows CT perfusion imaging 69 and 64, MRI 23 and 26. The Figure 3 ASPECTS subgroups (57 + 85 = 142) match 76 + 66, so the counts are internally consistent with each other but exceed the 133 CT-qualified patients by 9. The likely explanation is that some MRI-qualified patients also had a scored baseline CT, but the paper does not say so and the footnote's last sentence, as worded, excludes it. No explanation was found elsewhere in the article. This is a query to the authors about the footnote wording or the counts.

Typo Affiliation of Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez is printed as "Departments of Neurology, Anesthesia, Neurosurgery, and Radiology, University of Iowa, Ames"; the city appears to be wrong.
  • p. 1 Author list, affiliation of Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez
    University of Iowa, Ames

Only the authors can say what is right here.

Judge's note: Rests on outside knowledge: that the University of Iowa and its clinical departments are in Iowa City, and that Ames is the home of Iowa State University. The page 1 image prints "University of Iowa, Ames" exactly as quoted. Nothing in the files states the city otherwise, so only the authors can confirm.

Typo Results text reads "Serious adverse effects were reported in 43% of the patients" whereas the abstract calls the same quantity "serious adverse events (43% and 53%, respectively; P = 0.18)".
  • p. 7 Safety outcomes, last sentence
Serious adverse effects were reported in 43% of the patients
  • p. 3 Abstract, Results
    serious adverse events (43% and 53%, respectively; P = 0.18)

Judge's note: The page 7 image prints "Serious adverse effects". The abstract on page 3 (text layer) prints "serious adverse events" with the same percentages and P value. It is a wording inconsistency for one quantity, and the evident fix is "events".

Typo Table 1 interval printed as "0:38 (0:26- 0:59)", with a hyphen and a stray space instead of the en dash used in every other interval.
  • p. 16 Table 1, time from femoral puncture to reperfusion
    0:38 (0:26- 0:59)

Judge's note: The upright page 16 image shows "0:38 (0:26- 0:59)" with a hyphen followed by a space, while the other rows use an unspaced en dash (for example "0:59 (0:39–1:27)"). It is in the PDF itself, not an extraction artefact. Cosmetic.
