Semaglutide and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
2016 · paper · Clinical trials
A randomized trial of once-weekly semaglutide versus placebo in 3,297 high-risk people with type 2 diabetes. Cardiovascular death, heart attack or stroke occurred in 6.6% versus 8.9%, confirming non-inferiority; retinopathy complications were more frequent with semaglutide.

Reference or label Table 3 footnote * reads "A complete list of serious adverse events according to system organ class is provided in Table S10 in the Supplementary Appendix", whereas the text cites Table S11 for serious adverse events and Table S10 for glycated hemoglobin, body weight, blood pressure and lipids; the footnote should probably read Table S11.

Judge's note: Viewed the Table 3 footnote crop (page 9) and the Safety paragraph crop (page 8), and checked every Table S citation in the text layer. Table S10 is cited for glycated hemoglobin and body weight (page 5), systolic blood pressure (page 7) and "Lipid measurements are provided in Table S10" (page 8). The Safety section cites Table S11 for gastrointestinal disorders and for "the frequency and rate of serious adverse events, including serious cardiac disorders". The footnote's pointer to S10 for the serious adverse event list is therefore inconsistent with the article's own pointers. The Supplementary Appendix is not among the files, so the contents of S10 and S11 could not be checked directly; the verdict rests on the article's internal citations.
